More than aromatics at house in the sun

By Diana Dobson

"Te Whare Ra is about to become known for more than producing superb aromatics.

The house in the sun – as the name translates from Maori – may become the house of TWINS as Te Whare Ra winemakers and proprietors Jason and Anna Flowerday gear up to welcome their second set of twins in three years......"

This article appears in the New Zealand Grape Grower June/July issue and confirms there is something in the water in Marlborough both in the vineyards and homes as the area has New Zealand's highest number of twins born over the past 5 years!

Sophie and Emily Flowerday are true winemakers in the making – at two and a half they have already had a hand in making a 2007 Pinot Noir batch which by the way is their favourite varity, and with the imminent arrival of new siblings there will be quite some competition in this family in times to come..

There are newer wines introduced since Jason and Anna bought the property in late 2003 including new plantings of Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, Syrah as well as more Pinot Noir and Riesling. Alongside these and the mainstays of the business – Gewurztraminer, Riesling and Chardonnay .  2007 brig the 2nd release of our "Toru" (a blend of three varieties as the name suggests).

Our new 2007 whites and 2006 Pinot Noir will soon be available - some will again be limited, if you are interested in purchasing wines please; contact us now and let us know  so you don't miss out later!
